cadence vpcd

Hi,

Anybody here ever used VPCD to simulate RFIC transformer?. I really appreciate it if you share with me your experience. Thanks

vpcd cadence

I have used this tool for a while, and can't say it took my breath away.
The biggest advantage is that it's an EM tool which work directly on your layout in cadence-so no need to do back and forth conversions (like say, importing to HFSS or ADS momentum). It is also pretty comfortable as a layout synthesis tool,as it draws spiral inductors and transformers layouts and spare you the trouble.
However,as an EM solver,I find it dissapointing:
1.It's accuracy (compared to measurememnts results) wasn't satisfactory.
2.No real ability to control meshing.
3.Tons of annoying bugs accompany this tool from it's first day till the last version.

So,if you're looking for exact EM results-search elsewhere, but it's nice to use it as a "layout assistant".
