Redhat enterprise linux 3 is fitable to most of EDA tools. So, RHEL3 is better than others.

provides the EDA OS roadmap.

Will linux be a substitute for windows in the future?

Linux is not stable platform for serious work !! So I donot think Linux is the best plat form

Not stable? Compared to what? Windows based uptime: 8 days before all hell breaks loose. Linux (SuSE based) uptime: 63 days and counting - with heavy EDA use and counting!

I'm not razing you, just curious. Any *NIX platform is more than stable for EDA and such (enterprise) use - moreso than other platforms...
