dead battery voltage ?

Hello, i am doing battery charger design for 12 V Sealed Lead Acid Battery.

Do yuo know what is the voltage on a completely "dead" battery of this type?

.....even if the battery is a complete wreck and ready for the bin i believe it still has some voltage on it.

I am worried that my charger will just keep trickle charging such a dead battery "forever" ?

dead battery voltage ?

A completely flat lead acid battery would be about 1.8 volt pr. cell.
A completely ruined lead acid battery would be anywhere from zero to 1.7 volt pr cell.
