Anybody here can recommend me an algorithm for detecting spikes or transients in a 50Hz sinusoidal?

regards

Run your signal through a notch filter at 50 Hz. Then any other energy that gets through is from the transient. (You may need to put several stages of the filter in tandem to get rid of all of the 50 Hz.) Detect the filter output with a window comparator set to not trigger on the remaining 50 Hz signal that leaks through.

Hi

Try to use wavelet transformation. With this tool you can detect any kinf of perturbation. The problem is that you need a large processing power.

Best Regards
Pendragon

Hi Pendragon:

The processing power is not a big problem, i´m planning to use a 32bit DSP.

I´m going to try te wavelets.

Thanks for the information.
