full length pci-e dimensions

Hi All,
i want to know the PCIe card size. I've some query on using different board dimensions. In one of our designs we were planned to go ahead with PCIe half card size. But with all the components placed in both the top & bottom layers, we are not able to fix it with the half size board and it need another 25 to 30% (maximum). Is this is acceptable to use the card of our own wish or we have to use the next suggested size of Full length card. Kindly clarify me.
