HI,

I found a future energy challenge material that suggest that an SPWM inverter can be build using a normal power transformer and that led me to some question because in my country there is no easy access to high frequency transformer so I need to make do with 60Hz main transformer. These are my questions:

1. What is the maximum frequency that an Iron core main transformer can be switched without excessive heating

2. can I use the core of a small main transformer (500W transformer) for making a choke?

Also, I will like directions to site where I can order of the shelf high frequency transformer and cores for high freqeucy choke ( operating at 20KHz).

Thanks
