how to find the local max and local min??

simulink local max

how can i find local min and max in images shown??
 

local maxima and minima are the maximum and minimum values in our region of interest, which could be an mask of siz 3x3 or something else...

What tool are You using...?
Open CV or Matlab or what is it...?
 

i only using matlab....
so what should i do??
 

here is the edge image i obtain....
now i would like to proceed to detect the local max and local min of the shape given.....

but i am out of ideas now....anybody pls help me....
 

There is a function in matlab to find local maxima and minima...
try them...
I don remember the exact function...
 

well actually i search from matlab help for several times and found that the local max detection methods are mostly use simulink to implement it.....

so i really stuck at there....

cant find a good eg of matlab code to implement local max on images....
