What is an antialiasing filter...
Is it just an filter with Pass-band equal to the spectrum of the signal of interest(signal excluding the noise spectrum) or does it have any more features...?

Re: Antialiasing Filter

lordsathish,
With no antialiasing filter, signals with a frequency greater than 1/2 the sampling frequency will be "aliased". For example, if the sampling frequency Fs is 1000 Hz, then an input signal of 501 Hz would appear on the output as a 1 Hz (Fs/2-500) signal. This 1 Hz signal would be indistinguishable from an actual 1 Hz input. The purpose of an antialiasing filter is to remove all signals with a frequency greater than Fs/2 so that aliasing will not occur.

Antialiasing Filter

There are many spec to design a Antialiasing Filter, and you need find a design sample and study.

Antialiasing Filter

basically it can be any filter (mostly low pass filter),it cutt of the frequencies that r aliasing with each other

Antialiasing Filter

for an AA filter, stopband attenuation around Fs/2 is an important feature. You should take more care about it.
