i think that core utilization gives an idea about how much of the core area is occupied by standard cells and hard macros.

but when i changed the cor utilization ratio ,the core area is also changing??

why should the core area change if it's just the utilization of standard cells and hard macros of core area.....

core utilization

core utilization = total core area/utilized area

so when you change utilization ratio for a constant design ( gate cnts) your core area is bound to change.

this ratio is measnt that how much core you are utilizating for placing cells.

core utilization

Actually the core utilization percentage is the utilized area/core area. So you have numbers like 70% and 50%. Rather than 140% because the core area is always bigger.
