is there an open source drawing software i can install in ubuntu that is similar to microsoft visio?

ubuntu drawing software

Hi since you are running ubuntu I assume that you are using gnome. In that case try Dia, I have used it before and it is quite good (for my purposes anyway). It claims to be the open source equivalent of visio.

Cheers,

I agree, best alternative is dia. It has tons of plugins... network, circuit, logic, chemical, and map diagrams (and many more). A universal program:

'sudo apt-get install dia'

Other alternatives are Kivio, OpenOffice.org Draw, or XFig. Oh, there is also a KDE application called Umbrello.
