soft core processor

Hello.
I will be doing an introductory tutorial on "My First Nios II Software Design".
But I just need to get overview of the matter so that I can appreciate and be happy with what I am doing.
So Wikipedia says "soft-core processor is a processor that can be wholly implemented by logic synthesis". I have heard about people using ARM processor in their design. Is ARM refer to architecture or name of processor brand like Nios? Is ARM also soft-core?

Thank you.

The ARM architecture (previously, the Advanced RISC Machine, and prior to that Acorn RISC Machine) is a 32-bit RISC processor architecture developed by ARM Limited.

ARM also has soft cores available both as netlist and RTL.. but you need to get license to use them..
