We cannot say which is better coz Both r better in the given area of technology. If Intel can perform one procces better than AMD. Than AMD can perform the other process better than Intel.

So, in which areas Intel is better than AMD , and in which AMD is better ? ..
For example, for EDA tools applications, which is superior ? ..

I use AMD quad just because its cheaper and AMD is full support for ATI graphic card.

The processor has nothing to do with support for graphic cards. An AMD/ATi graphics card runs just as good in combination with an Intel processor.

Currently in the top segment the Intel quad-cores are performing better but the AMD quadcores are very price competetive. When you put more then 2 CPU's in a socket, the AMD processors scale a lot better due to their hypertransport links instead of a slow FSB.

For EDA tools i don't think that you will notice any difference between an Intel quad and AMD quad. They are both more than fast enough to do the job.

see thiese benchmark reports :
https://www.cpubenchmark.net/common_cpus.html

as of performance intel looks best for now .

But if saying about overall performance many factors counts - motherboard, graphic card, memory OS and particular applications you would like to run on that machine.

And benchmarks are also often blamed because these are very specific.

It will be good if other EDA design companies could make benchmark similar to Solidworks,so one can estimate how particular soft will run on particular machine before buying it and without software installation:

I can't see the AMD Quad core in this benchmark, can anyone see it ?
