Hi All,

Can any body tell me that

In Latches do we have "Set-up" and "Hold" timings or

or "removal" and "recovery" timings.

and How they are different from each other.

Does any body has doc's related to it.

Latch Timings

These are the definitions for recovery and removal time of asynchronous control signals as given in STA user guides.

recovery constraint
The minimum amount of time required between an asynchronous control signal (such as the asynchronous clear input of a flip-flop) going inactive and a subsequent active clock edge. This is like a setup check for the active clock edge.

removal constraint
The minimum amount of time required between a clock edge that occurs while an asynchronous input is active and the subsequent removal of the asserted asynchronous control signal. This is like a hold check for the removal of the asynchronous control signal.

To my knowledge, setup and hold time of asynchronous signals are called recovery and removal timings.

Latch Timings

You do need to check setup/hold time for latch

You do need to check setup/hold time for latch

Latch Timings

In Latches we will check the setup and hold time. You can check the sta user guide.

Re: Latch Timings

Setup and hold time checks applies to latches (enable pins) while recovery and removal applies to reset pin checks (of flops).

Latch Timings

Setup/hold checks should be done for latches which will be same as flops.
and as every one said recovery and removal are the timing checks for the asyncrouns i/ps of seq elements,
