The advantages of using at89c51 over 8051

Hello guys, im a final year engg student and am currently working on my project. I need ur help in lettin me know the advantages of using at89c51 over 8051 if any and also help with regards to the interfacing of an LCD and EEPROM with at89c51
 

8051 vs 89c51

8051 is generic name.

at89c51 is a variant of 8051 manufactured by atmel.

it has a flash memory while older 8051 has no memory (runs from external eeprom)

why 89c51 is better than 8051

because of flash memory in 89c51 you do not need a programmer to program it - just a simple cable that you can make yourself

davidgrm sir, can you please tell us how a simple cavle can program at89c51? It'd be a great help, since I found only programmer board using another 89c51 chip.

You are talking about 89S51 which is ISP programmable. 89C51 still requires parallel programmer.
Again 89C51RD2 is ISP programmable but not plain 89C51.

Here is the link for simplest programming cable. But this is for 89S51 and other ISP programmable devices.

ah ha, AT89C51 vs. Intel 8051:
At89C51 is a fully compatible with Intel 8051, so everything with At89C51, another hint AT89C51 is an old type of ATMEL 8051 family u can use AT89S51 or 52 instead it is new products with easy programming mode "ISP".

well there is no difference bet 89c51 and 8051
for interfacing the lcd and other u can refer the book on microcontroller written by following ,
1)keneth ayala
2)mahammad mazidi.
if u cant find please tell me..
 

why 89c51 better than 8051

check the data sheet for both mc from ATMEL web site
