What is the difference between a flash drive and a pen drive?

what is the difference between a flash drive and a pen drive?
 

flash

flash is synonymous with flash memory. Its non-voltatile memory implemented as a chip. So no mechanical parts, just a chip. pen drive is one such product containing flash memory, so that it is removable/portable and can be connected to PC via USB port.

Your mobile phone may have flash memory, so do ultra portable laptops have these days instead of hardsisk. Another example would be iphone or itouch having 8-32GB of flash memory.

but now a days flash memory is also available as is pen drive in the market is it not???????

Nonvolatile memory solutions enable better system performance and lower power consumption as well as facilitate additional benefits such as smaller form factors, quieter systems and improved robustness. Also a new, innovative memory technology called Phase Change Memory (PCM) providing very fast read and write speeds at lower power than conventional flash, and allows for bit alterability normally seen in RAM.
