89s52 program using serial port

You should look at the beginning of this thread.

Use the schematics isp_C_v5.PDF, this is the at89isp cable with the following naming changes:

Mappings of the pins are as follow:

TCK --> SCK
TDO --> MISO
TMS --> RST
TDI --> MOSI

The LPT connections are on page 2 of the PDF file. You may want to use 68 Ohms instead of 100 Ohm resistors if you can't get it to work.

I begin to do the same schematic of Atmel about AT89S51 but i didn't get reply.so i am trying to omit 74LS244 as a buffer and connect cable from LPT to the micro directly.
so please help me and send me your appliable schematic or notes

does the atmel's Microcontroller ISP Software can't work in windowsXP?

i can't setup sucessfully , it tell me can't register the at89s52.dll, but on windows2000,it can work.

Hi to all!
I have a problem with prg. cable made from AEC pages and my 89S52 processor.
My system provides logical "0" to the RESET pin for normal function, but I have to force 5 Volts there to save the program into chip. But after executing the programming in the software, there is still "0" on the RESET pin.
No matter which OS I use (XP, Win 98 ).
Could you please help me with this? Thanks for any reply.

Hi all,

I have some information. For those of u using AEC_ISP file and use the cable configuration, please be reminded that it will NOT WORK with any cable longer than 1.5 feet!

This can be very subjective, but i have constructed 4 units of the said ISP and connect it to different PC running on Windows XP. Initially it does not work but my colleague found out that after shortening the cable to less than 2 feet(or even shorter), it works...

I think you could add some sort of buffer to increase the length, but too lazy to work on it.

aec isp parallel cable

Hi forum members,

I have used AEC electronics's AT89S ISP programming DOS based software. All it
needs is just five wires from LPT port to the microcontroller to program it. It doesnt
need any buffer ICs inbetween LPT port and micro and extremely easy to construct
Thanks for the developers of the software. But, this DOS based programmer does
not work in winxp in my pc. Is there any windows based ISP programmer available
which doesnt need any buffers and as simple as AEC's programmer ?

I use ISP program from

It work can program ISP atmel AVR and 8051 at89Sxxx in same program.
But I use other hardware. The same idea "buffer with active low control port".

I ever use AEC V2 and V3. In hi speed cpu have some problem.
And if you want to load a new hex file. you must key filename.
ISP-Pgm30a use only click on reload. It easy to develop program.

In case to use AEC ISP in 200/xp. It must use external program to open LPT channel. such PortTalk from

Just i want to know, can we use 24mHz crystal insted of going for 4.0Mhz what is mentioned in BILL OF MATERIAL.

Hai,

For AT89Sxx chips i think this is much better programmer that works from serial port and has a 6 pin ICSP 0.1" type connector. Its daam cheap based on 2051 to program 89S52, Good idea.
Check this one, its called Snatsz, Whoa what a name, Anyways it work fine for me.

by the way a newer version of isp prog is avilable on the site the name is spiprog v3.7.

how to connect at89isp to 89s52

The original Atmel schematic on address h**p://www.atmel.com/dyn/resources/prod_documents/isp_C_v5.PDF doesn't exist any more. Please can anyone send me that schematic? thanks
