choosing suitable type of adder

Hi.
I am writing Verilog code to implement an algorithm.
To handle fixed point two's complement number format maths, are there specific adders for specific number formats or should the data be handled first before feeding to a standard adder?

Thank you.
 

i think there no special adder for your design. adder have the difference in the detailed argitecture depend on the tming requirement but have nothing with the input data.
