Colleagues,

This is, probably an easy question for those who know the answer. Is there a way to arrange an open-collector or open-drain output on a PIC18F4520 without adding a separate transistor or buffer? I’ve searched the datasheet, and I think the answer is “no”. But I want to know the people’s opinion.

Thanks,
- Nick

If the open-configuration (OC or OD) doesn't exist you can't "arrange" it ..

It doesn't look like this PIC has any pin that can be configured as "Open Drain" output, so an external device is the only option ..

The 18F1320 has an open drain pin RA4
You can simulate open drain by leaving the LAT at zero and TRIS the bit.
