Why inverters were added in the input and output of MUX 2:1?

Hi,
Please who can tell me why inverters ha d been added in the input and output of the mux. Are they necessary ?

I think they aren't necessary.
they act as buffer.

I agree with rezaee...They are just meant for buffering.

MUX 2:1

actually transmission gate passes the input signal as such and hence for regeneration and provide better noise margin the signal is regenerated by buffer configuration... important only if input signal is noisy...
