is here any alternate method to sense ac current without using coil

You can use Hall Effect sensors

Try Allegro

LEM has a similar idea, but requires special attention to the PCB since the current does not pass through the IC (as it does in the Allegro case)

Browse their web site, they may have something close to what you need.

Of course you can also simply sense across a resistor- it depends if you need isolation

AC Current sensing

You can use bolometry -- run the AC current through a resistive load, then measure the temperature. This is done in some older high-end RMS Voltmeters... Jim Williams has some literature on the topic. Search LTC's appnotes.
 

AC Current sensing

1. Hall-effect current sensors.
2. Resistive (voltage drop across ressitor) current sensors.
