Which component we can use to switch on/off an AC power source of 12V ?

dear friends

which component we can use to switch on/off an AC power source of 12V
as we are using triacs for high voltage? can we use optocouplers?
using at89c2051

For 12Vac you can also use a triac ..
For example, the Q2008L4 should work well if you only can "pump" more than 25mA into its gate ..

It can be driven by an optocopler such as MOC and the gate resistor should be about 20Ω ..

Ac power on

AC Power source of 12 Volts, relays are enough, optocouplers can do also.
