How to make signal condition circuit between shunt resistor & controller ?

hay,

Iam doing digital display for high voltage power supply.
In this supply I want display 0-2A current & 0-1000v voltages .Iam using 0.5 ohm 2W shunt Resister, Atmega32 controller
Can any body help me how to make signal condition circuit between shunt resister & controller by using amplifiers.
