Does anybody know Why AT45DB161D (DataFlash IC) has so many NC pins?

Why so many NC pins?

Perhaps they heard that microsoft wanted to write code for it - lol

I have heard that MLF is the preferred footprint for this family, I wouldn't use the TSOP28 version unless you really need to.

Although SOIC8 version is sold a lot more.
(check the inventory - see whats got the highest numbers - design for that - it will be cheaper & around longer)
