Hi, I'm trying to figure out the best hardware configuration for FDTD simulations in matlab. I hope that I'm not too much off topic, but I think that many other people will find this post useful.
As far as I know, the last version(s) of matlab can use the multicore capability of the last CPUs for long vector and matrix operations by simply ticking the right box in the configuration menus.
My main questions are:
- Which CPU would you recommend? AMD X2, Intel dual core, quad core?
- Would the RAM speed, 667 or 800 MHz, make a big difference?
I will also appreciate if people with the above mentioned CPU will post the results of the bench function with hardware specs and matlab version stated.
Thanks a lot

P.S. I forgot to mention that I will run matlab on unix/linux OS.
This articles might be interesting, especially the CAD/CAE results:
