Hello, i reinstalled my PC after crash.

now i want to install Linux with WindowsXP.

i am going to learn Linux Operating System, programming, Linux driver programming, network programming... and i have very low space! so which Linux edition would u suggest to me for such purposes... and i am going to spend for Linux partition not more than 2.5Gb is it enough for my purposes??

before i had Linux Gentoo! what to choose now?

At this time I am reinstalling my laptop with a dual boot system. I will install Windows XP and Ubuntu 7.04 on this laptop to get the machine working for me.

I have found information for the installation procedure on this website:

https://www.howtoforge.com/dual_boot_windows_xp_vista_ubuntu_feisty

I am new to Linux... and I need to have also Windows XP on my system for some software.

If you want to LEARN linux, try slackware. It's a very hard and ugly distribution, but you will learn a lot.
If you want to USE linux, there are much more distributions. Try ubuntu.

try one of the live distribution...
good luck...
