What your PCB guy is probably doing is outputting his gerbers using gerber.usr and ncdrill.usr.

Get him to use rs274-x.usr and excellon2.usr, also to modify them using Notepad.

    Point him to...
  3. Closed: Re: CADSTAR component missing in mechanical view

Have a look at your colours setup, check if the layers are correctly turned on.

What version of cadstar is this?
Can you show a screenshot of this "mechanical view" ? as I do not recognise this...

Does altium import a RINF file?
If so then yes that is one way to do it.

hard work, so can you not simply use copy & paste a lot instead?
  5. Closed: Re: Any idea what brand make or model this connector this is chaps

Looks very similar to a figure 8 power socket....
  6. Closed: Re: USB-C connector: Can I use it just as a connector for another purpose?

Do not forget that a user may also plug a USB3 power supply into it.
So whatever your internal processing, it may have voltages applied to the port.

Yes Coates, that's what I keep telling electricians, 7671 does not apply to equipment.
Neither standard are legal requirements - they are just ways of complying with the law.

    What does this board do?
It looks like all it's doing is powering an LED? I see no output.

    What proof do you want?

Proof of the UK wiring colour scheme can be found within BS7671 but that can only be obtained by paying for it or getting a dodgy copy.

You can have a look at the wiki...

What Barry says is correct, the colour codes do not apply within equipment and the manufacturer is AFAIK free to choose their own colours.

Someone needs to write an app for this.
Take photo of board, app decodes it and provides you with full schematic, parts list and Gerbers.

Coming soon to an Android or Apple phone near you.

Or just do as suggested above and use a documentation symbol with documentation attributes in it.

Ah well.... It seems Ian is a 1 post wonder.
  15. Closed: Re: Surge modules containg MOV and GDT in to test the MOV for leakage cu

Does BS/EN 60355 cover your product?
ISTR the lowest voltage test in that is 1kv if the product runs on >150v.

Whats the budget and pin count? Also distance between both boards?
There are low insertion force board to board connector pairs available.

Have you tried looking at the Samtec ranges?

Have you tried asking Farnell themselves about why their website is so slow?

I think they are more likely to be able to tell you than asking on an international forum.

Are you sure they are zeners? they could just be cheap signal diodes.

Whirlpool boards generally seem to have 1n4000 series diodes in.

As Marce says, it's only a guide.
