[SOLVED]Closed: Re: [HFSS] MagE and CmplxE

MagE is a complex number. "Mag" here indicates the vectorial magnitude, ie. sqrt(reEx+reEy+reEz)+i*sqrt(imEx+imEy+imEz)
ComplexMag is a real number, and it is the absolute value of MagE.

    MagE is...
  2. Closed: Re: Grounded co planar microstrip antenna excitation in HFSS

I never simulated GCPW in hfss but I know that "multipin waveguide port" in CST can make this easier, if you have the choice.

Closed: Re: [HFSS] What does N/A mean for delta S?

No. Only the simple delta S criteria, only a single frequency adaptive meshing.
  4. Closed: Re: Properties of material ( silver and copper )

When you right click an object and say assign material, it brings up a window where you can find silver and copper along with many other materials

I understand the first pass. But why the 8th pass? What possible reason could there be for delta S to be not calculated

Sometimes the delta S value in HFSS is shown as N/A. What causes this?
  7. Closed: Re: Can I define regions of different mesh sizes inside a polygon in CST MWS?

Is the object 3D? You dont need any meshing for the interior of the PEC at all. I think CST skips the calculation for the interior of the object anyway, so there is no point in defining a coarser...
  8. Closed: Re: Creating a matching network for an HFSS antenna array in Ansoft Designer

I solved it. If you go to the antenna Design, plot Directivity*RadiatedPower/(however much a single port is excited in circuit model, for my case 1^2/100) it will plot the true realized gain.
  9. Closed: Re: What is the difference between "design variable" and "project variable" in HFSS

There is a project manager on the left. http://www.edatop.com/uploadfile/2014/0902/20140902051020167.jpg

The variables when you click on Project1 are project variables, and you define them by...
  10. Closed: Re: Can I define regions of different mesh sizes inside a polygon in CST MWS?

If you unite the geometries, the mesh definitions will be combined also. If you want to have different mesh densities for different parts, you must keep them separate. This will work fine for...
  11. Closed: Re: Creating a matching network for an HFSS antenna array in Ansoft Designer

I believe doing "push excitations" calculate the correct amount of coupling between the ports and give the correct directivity. However, the feed losses (which are not in the antenna HFSS model, but...
  12. Closed: Creating a matching network for an HFSS antenna array in Ansoft Designer

I am able to import the HFSS model into circuit view, create a matching network, see how much return loss and coupling I have through the circuit analysis results.

However, I am not able to see...

I want to force HFSS to not mesh a particular region in a model. The model that I have includes a multilayer circuit board that is not very relevant to the region that I want to simulate. It is...
  14. Closed: Why does HFSS ask for me to click and draw every single time, also a few other issues

Does anyone actually draw objects by clicking on the screen? Every time I randomly click a few times and find the object I just created and edit the points. It would be so much easier if I could...

Another question, if I manually change a parameter and simulate again, is it possible to have the previous traces to be overlaid with the newly simulated trace?
