Winding margin tape for SMPS transformers.

I am doing isolated offline flyback of 20W...

-when hand-making SMPS transfornmers, Is there any way to best wind the margin tape?

(I cannot use Triple insulated wire for the primary as there's too many turns.)

-is there any way to wind the margin tape evenly?....i always end up with a horrendous mess.....i don't see how it is humanly possible to wind the margin tape, one layer atop the others , and get every layer exactly over the previous layers.....am i missing something?
 

Don't do it all at once.

You probably have to put the margins in to a certain height before you add the winding with its lead outs and then add insulating tape to the borders.

Holding a reel of, thin and floppy, margin tape in one hand and your bobbin in the other whilst turning them around is going to be 'grrrr'.

Cut approximate circumference lengths of margin tape and apply them individually until you have built up the appropriate height. Shift the overlap to spread the possible gaps around.
