is there any way to convert wimax to wifi and vis versa

NO, they are both very different standards with several sub-standards. If you are asking about designing a transceiver to work with both the standards, then it is possible but can get very complex depending on the standards you want to implement. WiMax, unlike WiFI, chipsets are still not that widely available.
