can someone explain zero crossing and how to detect it

pls can someone explain zero crossing, how to detect it and how it is applied. thanks
 

Hey gentleman!
Hi
When your input signal will be at zero , your zero crossing circuit will have output. for example a differentiator circuit can be as a zero crossing circuit( part of that).( if you give an square wave to your differentiator circuit, its out put at zero point will be spike . if you want a zero detector , you can give your signals to the comparator or op amp , without feed back , and your out put will be square wave as well as , and then you can get differential from that and you can rectify it ( with bridge) . ok your zero detecting circuit is ready to use!

What do you need? i think that you wanna know that what is the application of zero detector . if yes : the differential of each function at maximum will be zero. ok with the zero detector circuit , we will can find the peak of each signal . or we can use that for synchronization or we can use that for phase analyzing . for example we give a sinusoidal wave to the simple filter, we want to know that when the phase margin will be variable . with zero detector we can guess the phase margin as well as
