Here is described operating of optical edge sensor.
Sensor is connected to the controller, which controls
side position of the web with electric, pneumatic or hydraulic system.

The Model 31510 (used with Dynaguide) continuously
senses the web edge position with a light beam directed at
a photo-conductive cell, whose resistance is inversely
proportional to the amount of light falling on its surface.
This resistance varies with the lateral position of the web
edge. The change in resistance controls the input voltage
signal to the transistorized amplifier. The amplifier provides
an output voltage (in direct proportion to the later edge
position of the web) to the moving coil of the Dynaguide
Controller, which in turn provides hydraulic power to the
final control element.
The sensor option used with the Webguide Controller uses
a silicon photo voltaic cell operated in the short-circuit
mode. Its output current is proportional to the lateral web
edge position.
Other edge detection sensor principles are ultrasonic, laser, camera sensor......

Unfortunately, there is no exact wiring information founded for any Edge Position transducer.

Output signals used in these devices are usually current loop 4-20mA , +/- 10Vdc or 0-10Vdc
and half of the signal is center setpoint for sensor (transducer).

ie. 4-20mA , midpoint 12mA : +/- 10Vdc , midpoint 0Vdc : 0-10Vdc, midpoint 5Vdc
and deviation from that point is sensed and outputted with increased or decreased signal level.

Sensitivity / mm is device depended.
