Hello Every Body:
I am interfacing serially ATMEGA162 with hyperterminal. I am just sending a string to hyperterminal but string is not being received.
I want to trouble shoot the problem. I tested my code on Proteus software, the code is working well on software.
secondly i have tested the serial port by making connecting Tx n Rx together of DB9, i did n it is also working well.

now its time for MAX232. i dont know how to trouble shoot it. kindly suggest me. how to test max 232 is working or not???

Short the two connections from the MAX232 to ATMEGA162 (the TTL side) after removing those from ATMEGA132. Now do the same test... If you could see what you typed, then the problem is not with MAX232.

Loopback test decribed previously is very usefull.

Another test I use is send 55H char from MCU every 200ms. Then use logic probe for viewing where signal is and where not.
