can you post a picture of this transformer ?
first you have to get if possible the datasheet of the component you want to test
then you must find a way to test it, wi a dmm if possible
but sometimes you have to get another instrument to test it
simply a dmm cannot measure anything...
first example is the measure of the esr of a capacitor : a dmm cannot do it !
you can build simple electronic card to measure it and display it on a dmm, but at the base the dmm cannot do it...
for a transformer, you can measure the resistance between the pins, with this you can deduct the wirings of the transformer
but to check if the transformer is not short circuited, or if the ratio is good, the dmm wont do it...
