Choosing a graduation project

hi everyone
i am at the final year at electronics engineering and i am working for an analog ic design ALONE
i wanted to do a GPS chip but i found that it will be difficult for me
so can anyone suggest something easy to make ?
i will do the ic design from designing the transistor level till the layout (about the manufacturing i don't know if ill do or no)
i want to do an easy GP i don't want to do a difficult one
all what i need is to understand the project from a to z no more
i have 8 months to finish the GP starting from 1st August
so any suggestions guys

You can work on PFID tags, Low-power modulator/demodulator design and implementation, ...

PLL is always good
ALU, DAC, ADC, etc. The difficulty level comes not from designs, but the specifications on the devices. Putting them in low specifications such as low bits, low resolutions will make it easier.

Why not design simple DC-DC buck converter with internal monitoring of load current and I2C interface to send the data out? That is relatively easy (DCDC) internal monitoring of load is interesting project and I2C is not difficult to do either.

thx for all, but i want to tell you that i will work on it alone ( it's not a matter of difficulty but a matter of time actually i'll work on this project during a semester alone all my colleagues will work on a similar project with an 8 members group) so being alone is a problem ?
as i told you i'll start the design from the beginning till the layout
i was thinking about doing a gps module but i think it gonna be so difficult
ic98: thank you , u give me an idea about doing something i have never think about it ( how about doing a fm demodulator ic as the same as we find in the mobile)
florescent : when i decided to do this pro. i choosed an ADC (delta sigma) but i found that it gonna be difficult but for a pll i read about it and it's interesting so any more info pls !
Teddy : don't u think that it's difficult to make an I2C so DCDC will be good but i need something that the prof would say WOW when they see it

benoit89, actually I remind again, doing projects regarding wireless communication (RF electronics) has more supporter (scientific and financial!!)
so if you don't want such a project for your summer, but do it asap

If your prof understands something then measuring load current of DC-DC with NO external devices and without increasing Rdson of devices will surely be the WOW thing. There you can get job in TI and any other company within minutes! Trust me. But from what you are thinking about I asume that your prof is RF guy.
