2532 eprom programmer needed

hello I need an eprom programmer that will be able to program the 2532 an old eprom. My willem programmer cannot program this.
ebay links or homebuild links please.

I have made the adapter and it does not work on my willem eprom programmer. I set the conf to 2732 but even when I erased the eprom it fails the blank test.

The strange thing is that when I read the eprom I see some "@" in the buffer in some locations. When I re-read the eprom I see these "@" characters in different positions in the buffer.

What could be the problem?

I dont't think so. The programmer works on all the chips it claims. The 2532 can be very tricky to program as I have red in other forums. I have ordered some more 2532 chips to try. These use vpp=25v and the 2532A use 21v vpp. I do not sense any vpp on the supposed pin of the 2532 though. Is measures about 3-4v whereas it should be 25
 

Vpp could be measured during programming. During normal reading operation, there is no Vpp. Don't know which version of programmer you have (I have 3b). If it's one of these variants, 3.., the 100uH choke in 34063A should be wound on toroid core, not the resistor like one, due to the higher current demands of 2532 chips on Vpp line.

Anyway you should be able to use 2732 instead of 2532.

I am doing the test through the diagnostics and setting the vpp pin but no high voltage there. As you say, the coil in mine is the resistor like, not the toroid. Do you think this might be the problem?

Yes I know the trick about the 2732, you could also use a half of a 2764 too.
 

If you have low Vpp, check the 34063A and it's circuitry. Older chips as 2532 may need longer programming pulse, this is easy to set, see attached images.

Yes of course, I have set longer pulses before I post here. These old eproms are slow enough.
Your coil is much bigger than mine.

By setting the offset of the start of the program to another value programmins seemed to start (using the adaptor) and then at some time it was interrupted with a message of hardware error, check connections or hardware.

Now whatever chips I plug in it gives me the same error.
I think I have managed to burn out my willem or my PC usb port...congratulations... :-(
 

I do not use the USB port for powering the programmer, just an ordinary NoName AC/DC adapter (I guess it's output is 12V??) or I hook it to my bench power supply.

Try to test your hardware on 'Test H/W' tab. Your Vcc and Vpp LEDs should turn ON/OFF as you check/uncheck the appropriate box (1/32)

Is there any commercial eprom programmer that will be able to program the 2532 and 2532A eproms directly, without the addition of an eprom adapter?

ebay is my primary source

BTW I just bought GQ-4X true usb programmer. It claims it can program the 2532 (not the A version) and it is fully automatic. I hope it goes well...
 

Beware that you may need to supply the external power for those old EPROMs, they are power hungry :)
USB hub can supply up to 500 mA to a device after enumeration (up to 100 mA before), but that solely depends on your PC USB hardware (you can even fry your USB port if you try to draw too much current).

Yes I know this. The software is quite good and lets you know when you select the device.
