Allegro learning curve

Hello,

I've heard from many people that learning Allegro is very challenging. Rather than relying on second-hand information, I thought I'd ask this of users of Allegro.

Was it a painful and lengthy process to learn this program? How long did it take you to be comfy enough to handle a 8 layer pcb with a 1000 components?

Thanks

Allegro learning curve

I have a friend learning Allegro, he reaches the situation you say in two years. For reference only, you may more quickly. .

Allegro learning curve

Learning curve for Allegro will be shortened/lengthened based on the following:

1. Do you have practical experience using other layout tools? If so it should not be to difficult to pick up Allegro. You could even setup your .env file to mimic the shortcuts and keystrokes of familiar tool.

2. If not, you should do the tutorials and ask alot of questions of people who do know the tool.

I had been designing boards for about 5 years using other tools before using Allegro. The learning cruve for me was about 1 month to get a board through the entire process with confidence. I used the tutorials.

Hi GHz,
You wont have much difficulty in learning Allegro.
Only problem, I think, you might have is in learning Constraint Manager.
Rest is only the issue of getting familirisation to the commnads used and tool environmen.
and this upto you that how early you learn the commands.

Hello All,
If you know PCB Design flow than you can learn fast. This will require reading the Manuals.

The difficult part is Constraint Manager and Allegro-SI

Thanks
