If you could elaborate a bit about the application, that would help. There are MCUs with a main CPU and real-time interrupt driven coprocessors to minimize latency and provide best interrupt response time, there are the OMAPs from TI with DSP + ARM for Audio / Video applications....
VERY different implementations both coprocessors.
You found the Spear, so what's wrong with that one (besides availability).
May be you should look at Actel for a lower end device similar to Spear implementation?
It all depends what you want to do with it.
