Hi people, Its me again...

It has been quite some time, I've finished with my thesis and by now I know quite a lot more about FDTD. But I can't find the time (already started on my PhD) to write the rest of the guide....

So once more, I call for people with FDTD knowledge which will propably be better than mine to add to the wiki....

FDTD is not a hard method but it has many "secrets" if you will that might take a newbiew quite some time to work out, especially without a person who knows the method standing over his shoulder....

Topics I will try to cover in the future:

-> ABCs: Mur 1st, 2nd and Anti-LTI Mur
-> Source Modeling: Voltage Edge Sources, Dipole Modeling+PEC,PMC
-> Input Impedance Calculation: Current Calculation, Z calculation perhaps even FFT for Gaussian pulses
-> SAR calculations and averaging
-> Bioheat Equation and Thermal simulations
-> Human Body and Head modeling: model (Zubal), biomaterials (Gabriel)

There are still many things that I do not know so anyone who does is more than welcome to write about them in a very simple and analytical way (like I did in my guide, kind of a '4 Dummies' way and either append it on the wiki or send me the text and I will add it to the guide:

Such topics should cover:
-> PML
-> Far Field Transformations
-> Many many other things that don't come to mind right now

Hi Somada,

just to let you know that I have not forgotten that I said I would write something.
It is still on my stack of things to do but I cannot find the time for more than a few
minutes here and there right now. If I can find a reason to spend some time on my
ABC code then it would be easier to write something.

In any case, if you add something new to the guide please announce it and I will at
least have a look and see if I can add something.

On a different topic. There are several good set of slides/lecture notes on FDTD
on the web. It might be an idea to

- collect them
- organize them and
- fill in some details

rather than starting from scratch

- iyami

another improvement i suggest is to add references=)

Hi Somada,

Don't give up on your FDTD Wiki Guide. My advice is to just keep working on it when you have the time.

I've been working on my own FDTD page, over the years. Mostly 2D Demo programs, and I add stuff from time to time that I find interesting. The latest being a collection of YouTube FDTD lectures by Dr. Cynthia Furse...

It is a great work you give us a guide. I am a FDTD fan but till now I didn't resolve how to quickly generate the mesh of the whole simulation area. I try to find the codes, sample or papers. Just three or five papers simply describe the mesh method. It seems that the mesh method is a very simple thing for FDTD. But I don't think so. All codes just give us how to complete the calculation, but didn't give us a guide how to generate the mesh.
Anyway, thanks for you great work. I will contribute my codes that I collected later.

That is a great idea. No I do not think gridding and voxeling is simple.
It requires serious programming to do it properly (especially if you do not just cut the whole thing into cubes but you want to emply subgridding)

In any case please share any codes you found

hi

i was working on CFDTD ( Dey and Mittra). CFDTD was applied to simulate conformal structures.

i think that, working on FDTD guide will be helpful for many people, and help them to develop this method.

I wil participate to enhance this guide.

good luk

Excellent medaziz. Anyone who wants to help is more than welcome.
Would you like to write a guide or perhaps write in the wiki?

Dear Somada141

I would like to participate in this Wiki.

Keep us with contact.

Dear dougn

I can't open your link.
I should advise all FDTD friends that IMPROVE YOUR WORKS BY CONTINUING EACH OTHER'S SMALL WORKS AND DO NOT EXHAUST YOUR SELF BY PARALLEL AND SIMULTANEOUS INDIVIDUAL HARD WORKS.

excuse me for my poor english
Thanks all
