Optimizing Group Delay in ADS

delay optimize ads

Hello,

I don't know how to optimize group delay in ADS. I'm using the s-parameter simulation icon. What I want to do is find an expression for group delay and put that into one of the goals. I know how to plot group delay, but I cannot figure out how to use group delay as an optimization parameter. See the attached pdf for details.

Does anyone know how to do this?

I am not familiar with ADS. However, I assume that the principle of optimization will be similar to other simulation packages.
You didn´t mention what you mean with "optimize group delay", but I guess your goal will be to make the group delay as constant as possible over frequency.

Therefore:
1st alternative: the goal to be specified could be that the first derivative of the delay has to stay within certain limits around zero.
2nd alternative: Specify another function (for example as a table) which represents the desired delay function. In this case, the goal is to make the difference between this artificial function and the actual function as small as possible.
What do you think aboit this approach ?

Thanks for your help, but I'd like to keep this thread specific to ADS. The focus is how to use group delay in the "goal" icon of ADS assuming that is possible.
