calculating gain with voltage and current

How does the gain and voltage swing make a difference in a current mirror?

basic current mirror, how to find gain

Current mirrors are simple elements of complex bias or load systems. If for example, you need somewere in your circuit a double of the reference current, you may use a simple current mirror with the gain=2. If this is the bias current for a differential pair --- the output swing of the current mirror is important for working regions of the diff amp.

Very clear chapter about current mirrors you can find in Razavi's handbook.

calculation of voltage swing

the voltage swing determines the head room for the swing of the other parts
