Hi All,

How a temperature coefficient of resistor is found out?

Thanks

Thanks for ur reply..

does the Temperature coefficent of certain material change with length and width?

For example R1=5K Ohm and R2=25 KOhm of a same material resistors have different or same temperature coefficents?

Thanks again..

If your question is related to precision resistors, they are basically designed for zero temperature coefficient. They show a residual temperature coefficient, that must be expected as the sum of a systematic term (possibly a quadratic or cubic function of temperature) and individual variations. Although there may be a systematic dependency on resistance value, you should not assume any TK matching of individual resistors unless specified by the manufacturer.

Thanks for the reply..

In the model lib i have the temperature coefficient...my doubt is "will the temperature coefficient vary for different resistor value, for the same type of resistor ?"

Thanks again...

Generally, yes. In case of discrete parts, you should check the manufacturer data sheets, for IC design the process specification.

bharatsmile2007,
Temperature Coefficient (Tempco) is usually given on the manufacturers data sheet in units of parts per million per degree C, e.g. 2 ppm/degC. The guaranteed maximum tempco value for a given resistor family does not vary with the resistance value, unless specifically specified on the data sheet.

Kral
