Is it possible to detect a metal (a person carrying gun etc) from a distance of 50 meters or more? If so, the theory behind it, any details, practical circuit etc

Probably more "Star Trek" than practical technology. Possibly high powered millimetric radar?. Could be pretty dangerous to health though. In practical terms, usually a few feet with conventional techniques.

Could be witha system similar to a rada and detecting the shape of the reflected waveform, in a similar manner to the airplanes recognition.
Overall the reflected level of a metal is much higher than the one of the body.

Above both answers are right.

However, there may be a thought, whether practical feasable or not is to make many rather too many coil in that path for metal detection, I mean too many metal detection connected with a system.

Thanks for the replies.

I will look into the possibilities.
