Can anybody tell me if TDMA can coexist with spread sprectrum?

Thanks.

Hi Honey,
I dont think TDMA can coexist with spread spectrum because in spread spectrum there is no restriction in time and frequency and hence users can transmit their data in any time and on any frequency unlike in TDMA where there is restriction in time.

There are different types of spread spectrum.

For example, frequency hopping (when a carrier frequency is constantly changing using pseudo-random generator) certainly can coexist with TDMA (and does so, for instance, in GSM).

As for direct sequence spread spectrum, I don't think it would make any sense to mess it up TDMA.

Thanks for your replies.

Does it mean that in TDMA for GSM, the frequency hops in every time slot allocated?

Thanks.

Yes. For every timeslot a random frequency band is chosen, which is unchanged during the slot's duration.
