the use of a bjt ,whose B&E connect together?

how to connect bjt

hi,

does anybody know the use of a bjt ,whose b and e connect together?
thanks
 

ya in a common base configuration this is possible

Such a circuit could function as a clamp. If the base and emitter are connected to ground and the input to the block is connected to the collector, this can prevent negative voltages more than 0.7V from affecting your circuit block.

simply the bjt is wired as a diode between collector and the base/emitter
