design antenna help

Hi, i am an Comunications Engineer student, and i was asked to design one of the following antennas :

-Dipole
-Monopole
-Microstrip
-Loop

To connect to a PC or something similar. I think it is suppose to receive FM signals.

I will use Ansoft Designer.
I need some help choosing the best one.

any ideas ? thanks

any design parameter require

no design parameter required, he only said it was for FM and to integrate into a PC

In general FM is referring to the broadcast band, 88 MHz – 108 MHz.
The most suitable antenna from the ones you enumerate, could be a monopole (meander or whip) or a loop antenna.

ansoft designer is suitable for microstrip patches. but frequency needs some big structure. So it ll be hard to simulate.

What simulation software is most adequate for these (HFSS, Ansoft Designer, ADS,other)

which antenna is the best to simulate and to build in this case?

can you recommend me a book about this? i have Antenna Theory of Balanis, but not sure if it's adequate for this work.

note: i think the antenna is only for one frequency of choice, in this case does it make it easier to build?

thanks for helping

Ansoft HFSS is suitable for all of your choices. balanis book is good. first measure and calculate apprx. dimensions and then draw in HFSS and simulate it. and try to tune your dimensions for best result. refer forums for how to use and simulate in HFSS.

Good luck

For FM frequencies range I think Method of Moment is more suitable to be used. Here you can see some antenna examples of MoM application:
