i am a 5th year engineering student. i want to do a thesis design about fingerprint matching using matlab but i don't know where to start.

ya i can Bz i did my masters project in BIOMETRICS(FIngerprint recognition by gabor filter).Try to do thesis as less pages as possible.

no I'm not taking up dual degree. in the Philippines engineering courses takes 5 years to finish.
i want a source code using matlab and background about how fingerprint recognition started. also, references...

@tribue: Do you have a fingerprint reader already? And what sort of connection is it. (usb, db9, serial, parallel, etc etc) You will also have to find out what baud rate it communicates at to connect it to matlab.

You need skillz. It's a very advanced project, so unless you know what you're doing I'd recommend a different school project.
