Hi, I have a doubt. Recently i've been designing inductors using OTAs. My question is can i use this inductor based on OTAS for RF applications for example input and output matching networks for amplifiers

Could you please educate me what does it mean OTAs?

You can't use the OTA based inductors in real RF circuits.though the OTA based inductor show very high Q and occupy very little areas, its noise characteristci is so badly that it will ruin the whole circuit.you can get more explainations in Tom.Lee's book"CMOS RF Integrated circuit"

What kind of inductor can i use, the spiral ones?
Could tell where ca i found this book?

To Advark,

Thank you very much for this information. I am not IC designer and this is new word for me. I asked you about it because I did in past and doing now a lot of work related to inductance and everything related to it is interesting for me. I try to do inductance optimization for RF IC. Sometimes it work, sometimes not depends on process properties. I am also want to develop the inductorless circuits because inductor is one of the most unreliable and expensive elements.

Thanks again,
RF-OM

Hello RF-OM,

perhaps our contact concerning inductances can be more fruitful as it was with regard to the definition of Q.
If you are new in the field of active realization of inductances (without coils) I could give you a lot of information based on FDNR-techniques (with opamps or OTA´s or current conveyors).
