i am developing the dc current meter , in that a hall sensor UNG 3505 is used but , sensor should place in the air gap of ferrite core .

i found it in the old smps but of ring shape , for a gap i have to cut it ! and ferrite >> is too hard to cut . any special method for cutting .?

or

can i use a similar core but not made from ferrite , which can be cut easily !

will it work ?

rest of the ckt is running ok ...

thank you.

ferrite air gap grinding method

Try to find other ferrite bar, like inside a radio (receivers) ....

ferrite cut

will it be useful ?

but i want the hallo one ?

cutting disc ferrite

Hello,

torroid cores are optimal for current transducers in terms of magnetical symmetry and thus often used. I think, ferrite is best for high-frequency transducers, but for industrial transducers cutted tape-wound cores are better suited because of higher permeability and saturation flux.

B.T.W.: Ferroxcube supplies "gapped" torroids, but the gap is covered by coating material.

Ferrite material can be cut with a small cutting disc, at best a diamond cutting disc, in a hand tool.

Regards,

Frank

how cut ferrite

thank you frank

i will try both torroid cores , and ferrite core after cutting it , i hope the diamond cutting disc available in my small town .

later on i will post the result of this .

Added after 2 hours 50 minutes:

yes , i cut it !

how to grind a ferrite core

Grinding discs could be used, if not too thick, silicon carbide cuttings discs may be better, diamond cuttings discs are superior, at best wet operated. A stationary diamond cutting disc could be used at a production scale.

cutting a ferrite core -patent

i cut it by small disk which is the part of accessory's come with the my small pcb drill m/c .

and the ammeter for which it needed work well .
