calibre opc site:edaboard.com

OPC:eek:ptical proximity check
RET:resolution enhancement techniques
between making the mask and finishing the layout , some steps are made to increase the yield like adding some dummy extensions to some layout figure so that when the process steps are done the final outcome is like the drawn layout , this falls under what is called DFM "design for manufacturing", and as far as i know calibre provide some of these options to be done automatically

OPC is an operation done by the foundry and becomes drastically complex at 65nm and below.

For RET, who does this operation : Design or Foundry or Mask shop ?

Because the on going shrinking on the newer technologies, the printing of the mask become harder and unexpected. So Eda companies created tools to handle this problem, in other words to modify on the layout that you want it to be printed to be like it after the affect of the small wave length and mask creation.

OPC & RET are transparent to the Designer and handled mainly by the Foundry but some RET like Phase Shift is done my the Mask Shop.
