As i know, typically the sw pin didn't add the esd protection in the switch regulator.

How to guarantee the pin pass the ESD(HM,MM) Spec.?

Re: ESD at the SW pin

A pin that has a big power transistor is well protected. that transistor is in fact better than a simple ESD protection because is bigger in area and low resistive. That's why usualy the switching pins don't need a ESD structure (excepting some special cases).

But be carefoul to the fact that ESD pulse is bidirectional and you should let path in and out from pin. For example if on that pin you have a Nmos pull-down switch then you will need to add a extra pmos to supply.

ESD at the SW pin

Thanks! It's helpful for me to understand it.

In other words, we still need pull-down or pull-up type ESD in the non-synchronous DC-DC converter.

ESD at the SW pin

However, you must carefully apply ESD rule for NMOS switch.
